The Stone House is located on South Uist which is part of the long chain of islands known as The Outer Hebrides or The Western Isles.

It lies to the south of the chain and is linked by causeway to Eriskay to the south and to Benbecula to the north. Benbecula is linked to North Uist and there is a ferry link north to Lewis and Harris and south to Barra.

The nearest shop and petrol station is at Howmore to the north whilst there is a large Co-op store and Post Office at Daliburgh, some ten to fifteen minutes away to the south. Balivanich is the largest settlement and is on Benbecula where the airport is situated. There are a variety of shops here.
